Helping Kids See the World More Clearly: Free Vision Screenings at DGCKids

Did you know that vision problems in young children are often hard to detect—but early detection can make a big difference?
At DGCKids, we believe every child deserves the chance to see the world clearly. That’s why we offer free vision screenings for children ages 6 months to 6 years through our community-based program.
These quick and easy screenings use a special tool called the SPOT camera, which allows us to check a child’s vision in seconds—no eye drops, no pressure, and no stress. Infants and toddlers simply sit on their caregiver’s lap and look into the camera. It’s that simple!
The camera instantly provides either a “pass” or “refer” result. If a potential concern is detected, we help connect families with trusted eye care professionals for a full evaluation. For many children, this can be the first step in addressing an issue that might otherwise go unnoticed during these crucial early years.
We’re in the Community—Because Families Are, Too
A special thank you to Urban Sprouts for welcoming us into their Center, where we recently screened 90 children in a single visit! And a huge shout-out to our dedicated Vision Screening Director, Noreen Carpenter Conte, who brings expertise and compassion to every screening she leads.
