A blue circle has the text, "Celebrating 75 Years."

In 2026, DGCKids is celebrating a remarkable milestone: 75 years of supporting children with visual impairments and their families.

Since our founding in 1951, DGCKids has grown into a vibrant, deeply connected community that lights the way for families—from a child’s earliest days through young adulthood. What began with a vision of support and inclusion has blossomed into a full-circle approach to care, offering early intervention, family support, youth development programs, and vision screening for thousands of children across Missouri and Illinois.

And at the heart of it all? You. Our families, staff, donors, volunteers, and community partners have made this journey possible. Every smile, every milestone, every tandem ride or early mobility lesson—it’s all been shaped by your belief in what’s possible.

As we reflect on the past 75 years, we’re also looking ahead—with hope, energy, and a renewed commitment to our mission. Together, we will continue to ensure that children with visual impairments have the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

Help Us Celebrate

To mark this special year, we’re inviting everyone who has been part of the DGCKids story to share their memories, photos, and stories. Whether you were part of our programs decades ago or just recently joined the community, your moments matter—and we want to honor them.

We’ll be highlighting memories throughout the year on our website, social media, and during our 75th anniversary celebration events. Together, we’ll create a living history that reflects the heart of DGCKids: connection, care, and community.

Thank You

We’re so proud of the legacy we’ve built—and so grateful for the people who have made it possible. Thank you for lighting the way.
