HOW YOU CAN HELP
QUOTE: “The Power of effecting changes
for the better is within ourselves, not in the favorableness of
circumstances.” Helen Keller, 1923
“I never forget my initial conversations
with parents after they have learned that their baby is blind or
has severe vision loss. Overwhelmed with sadness, they may think
that there will be no happiness from that day forward. Their pain,
sense of isolation and questions without answers always remind me
of the importance of the work of the Delta Gamma Center for Children
with Visual Impairments.
Equally as memorable is the resilience of the
families, the strength with which they face this new challenge and
their own and their children’s amazing growth and change.”
- Deborah Naucke, Executive Director
In the words of a parent, ““…no
parent manual is sufficient enough…Imagine the feeling of
isolation to discover your child is missing the tools that account
for 80% of his learning ability.”
The power of change is in all of us. You have
the power to give children who are blind or visually impaired the
opportunity to learn about the world in their own unique way and
develop the skills that will allow them to live in a sight oriented
world and be become productive members of their communities.
